and I'm back!

Wow. It has been so long since I've written on this blog. November 21, 2021 to May 3, 2023. So, basically, my entire community college experience.

But, to be fair, I've been terribly busy. Managing a relationship, work, and college has been no easy task, but the fruits of my labor are plentiful, and now I'm faced with the most fearful challenge yet: change.

I'm moving out this month and all the way across the mitten to Ann Arbor. A 2 hour drive doesn't seem like much, but to a person who has only traveled outside of her state maybe 3 times, it is. It really is. Not only am I moving, but I am moving in with my boyfriend, a man. A man doing man things. Like not picking up his socks. Or leaving the toilet seat up (which he doesn't do, but I like to tease him sometimes).

But seriously, I'm excited to move in with him - to start this new chapter in our lives. It will be scary and frustrating, but, ultimately, it is the push we need to truly engage adulthood and strengthen our relationship. Besides, now I get to annoy him as much as I want.

What really scares me, however, is starting my fall semester at the University of Michigan. If all goes well, in two-ish years I will graduate with a Bachelor of the Arts in creative writing, start a career, and become a bestselling author (fingers crossed!). But that's easier said than done. If I thought community college was taxing at times, how the heck am I going to survive a "public Ivy" like UM? While keeping a relationship healthy? And taking care of an apartment? And I still don't have my driver's license.

To be fair, that last one's on me.

But I did not come here to lament. This is an update - purely business as indicated by my business-like tone. I've made a promise to myself (and to my future success at UM): I need to start writing again. And no, not academic writing. I've had enough of that, thank you very much, and I could sure use this summer as a break.

I started this blog to engage with creativity, and for nearly two years, I barely glanced at it. And now I fear I'm losing touch with creative writing altogether.

So, hell no. Ya'll are stuck with me. To my three readers: hold me accountable. If I don't post the most random, unimportant stuff every week, I'm failing you. So please, three readers, let's keep this fire alive.

Tune in next week (maybe) when I will be discussing my experience at a community college. Riveting stuff, for sure.
